Elizabeth is Back in the Water, Ready for an Epic Sailing Season!

After a winter of upgrades, maintenance, and a fair bit of patience with the weather, Elizabeth is officially back in the water and almost ready to welcome our first students of the season!

The team at Ramsgate Sailing School has been hard at work ensuring she’s in top shape, and we’re excited to kick off another year of sailing, adventure, and top-notch training. But before we set off, there are still a few final tweaks to make sure everything is running smoothly.

New Tech, New Adventures!

One of the biggest updates this year is the installation of brand-new electronic navigation equipment. Our new chart plotters, radar, wind instruments, and log are all state-of-the-art and ready to take our students' navigation skills to the next level.

The final step? Calibration! Everything needs to be fine-tuned so that when we’re out on the water, we can rely on accurate, real-time data. There’s no room for guesswork when you’re halfway across the Channel!

Special shoutout to Stuart King of Stak Marine, who expertly fitted the new electrics for us... who BTW, is just as happy working at sea level as he is up the top of the mast on a cherry picker!

⛵ The International Rules for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea (IRPCS) require skippers to use radar effectively if it’s fitted to their vessel.

⚠️ Failure to do so in poor visibility could result in a fine…or worse!

And let’s be honest, halfway across the Channel, with fog rolling in, is NOT the time to switch on your radar for the first time and start looking for the manual!
