As Ramsgate Sailing School gears up for another thrilling year on the water, Elizabeth, our pride and joy, is undergoing some serious TLC to ensure she’s in peak condition for 2025. With a busy 2024 season behind us, now is the perfect time to invest in key repairs, upgrades, and improvements to make sure she’s ready for the adventures ahead.
A Comprehensive Overhaul for Elizabeth
Over the next month, Elizabeth will be brought out of the water for an extensive maintenance and upgrade program. This is a critical step in ensuring she’s performing at her best when the new season begins. Here’s what’s in store:
Anti-Fouling Refresh: The hull will be stripped of old anti-fouling, cleaned, and re-applied to maintain her smooth glide through the water. New anodes will also be installed on the hull, prop shaft, and propeller to protect against corrosion.
Topsides Polishing: To keep her looking as good as she sails, the topsides will be polished to a brilliant shine.
Rigging and Sails Maintenance: The sails will be removed, laundered, and repaired where needed, while sheets and halyards will be thoroughly inspected, washed, repaired, or replaced to ensure everything is in tip-top shape.
Cutting-Edge Technology Enhancements

Dual Touchscreen Plotters: Two advanced touchscreen plotters—one in the cockpit and one below deck—are being installed, replacing older systems and offering unparalleled ease of use and functionality.
Radar Upgrade: A brand-new radar system will enhance navigation and safety, making it easier to master navigating in poor visibility or challenging conditions.
AIS and VHF Improvements: A new DSC VHF radio and AIS transponder/receiver are being installed, allowing other vessels to track Elizabeth in real-time and enabling friends and family to follow your adventures from shore.
Digital Depth Sounder and Log: Accurate readings of depth and speed will provide invaluable data for developing key navigation skills.
